Born and raised in Hawaii. Left at age 17 for college. Went to Carleton in Minnesota, then University of Kansas, then left to work and travel, finishing BA degree in art history at University of Washington. Moved to Ontario, Canada. MA years at University of Toronto in art history. Began lecturing/ teaching at Sheridan College School of Design. Simultaneously began studio work, mainly photography altered with drawing. Two solo shows and one, two group shows each year. Difficult to balance academics and studio. After twenty-three years in Canada, returned to U.S. Travelled in a small trailer, with very dear cat, for two years, drawing and painting. Needed to have a real studio again. Settled in Arizona. MFA from Vermont College in 1997. So far, there have followed two solo shows, group shows and regular studio shows. My work has always been essentially figurative, somewhat narrative and made in sequences. The ideas of art history are always with me. I continue to draw stories, anecdotes, intellectual wanderings, and whatever else is interesting.
